Volunteers are the eyes and ears, the surrogates, the early warning system, the photogs, the event coordinators, the newspaper article sleuths, and the feedback loop to understand how messages and campaign appearances are received by voters.

- Dropping campaign literature at high-traffic businesses and meeting places.
- Holding meet-and-greet events and formal fundraisers.
- Identifying venues where I can speak to mixed crowds (Republicans, Independents, and Dems), and not only tabling events at fairs. Service and fraternal organizations are good examples.
- Identifying where my opponent has spoken so I can ask for equal time.
- Scouring the local papers for articles by or about my opponent. It’s important to know what he says (Republican "success" claims often mask real failures).
- Identifying good billboard locations and good 4X8 sign locations. Big signs often require the owner’s permission, so previous locations of Democratic signs are easiest.
- Amplifying my campaign on your social media.
- In your daily lives, look for opportunities (perhaps at stores) to simply note to strangers about rising food costs because of ICE raids, the rising cost of necessities because of Trump’s tariffs, and the rising cost of healthcare because Trump gave $1 trillion to the already-rich (taken from Medicaid/Medicare). Highlight your fears about Trump’s reckless Iranian War which cost American lives and caused massive gas prices. Also, your concerns about our tourist areas, now that Trump has cut budgets and staff that protect our forests and rivers. And maybe that Trump is breaking the law by not releasing all of the Epstein pedophile records.
- Remind folks that the Georgia Republican Party fully supports Trump, including trying to pass massive voter suppression bills at his command.
When we are closer to the election, Dave needs phone banking, texting, post cards, and sign waving.
The best way to highlight our compassionate Democratic values and remind voters of how Republicans have abandoned democratic principles is face-to-face—canvassing. There is a cell phone app that makes canvassing easy. Going in pairs makes it fun.
